NAROWAL: Sialkot police claimed on Tuesday to have recovered a four-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted five days ago from Gujranwala district.

Nighat Bibi, a resident of Dharamkot village in Daska tehsil, filed a complaint with the Satrah police that her daughter Jessica had gone out to play in the street and went missing.

Taking notice of the incident, Sialkot District Police Officer Muhammad Faisal Kamran formed raiding teams, led by the Daska DSP.

Sialkot district police spokesman Khurram Shahzad said Daska DSP Hameed Wark along with Satrah Station House Officer Inspector Abdul Rahman conducted an operation using footage from more than 300 CCTV cameras.

The Daska police team used private and public transport and social media to search for the girl. The spokesman said police, after a continuous struggle of five days, recovered Jessica from Sukhana Bajwa village of Gujranwala district.

Khurram Shehzad said the girl was handed over to her mother. He said suspect Khursheed Bibi lured Jessica and took the girl with her.

He said it can be seen in the footage of the CCTV cameras that the woman had taken the girl along on foot for several kilometers. Further investigation is under way.

The DPO has announced cash award and certificate of appreciation to the Daska DSP and the team.
