OKARA: The Saddar police have registered a case against a man who allegedly tried to rape a child.

According to the FIR, a minor boy went to an adjacent house where the suspect tried to rape him. As the mother and sister of the boy came there, the suspect fled.

On the report of the child’s father, police registered a case under section 376 and 511 PPC against the neighbour.

INJURED: Two persons were shot at and injured by rivals near Bomby Lahorian area.

The FIR said Muhammad Ramzan, along with his brother Shahid, were on their way home after work when five armed men Musa and his sons Asif and Farid and brothers Allah Ditta and Yousaf stopped them and shot at the two both brothers and also inflicted club blows. Ramzan and Shahid were injured and rescued by residents of the village.

The five men earlier attacked and injured the two brothers three days ago and repeated the violence.

The Deepalpur THQ hospital emergency duty doctor issued the medicolegal certificates 1926 and 1931 / 2022 after which the Saddar police registered a case.

SMOG: Pollution and smog pose a serious health threat and efforts should be made to avoid these.

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia chaired a smog awareness seminar in Deepalpur, where agriculturists, lumberdars and officials of the environment and other departments participated.

Speakers said the government and the private sector should jointly work to prevent smog. As Deepalpur was the hub of agriculture, they said, landlords and agriculturists must cooperate with the administration to save people from smog and polluted air. They asked the farmers to avoid torching residue of crops, especially paddy.

Deputy Director Agriculture (extension wing) Rao Riaz Anjum said the growers must use agricultural tools to treat the crops’ residue which could enhance the land fertility. He said kilns and industrial units must observe SOPs laid down to avoid smog.
