ISLAMABAD, Jan 29: The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, on Tuesday issued notices to the tehsil municipal officer (TMO) and Punjab advocate-general on the petition of milkmen, who were seeking more time in shifting their cattle-pens outside the city.
The case will again be taken up on Wednesday as the deadline of January 31 is fast approaching.
After the dismissal of their petition by the Supreme Court on January 24, the milkmen in their petition through Ibadur Rehman Lodhi advocate, requested the court to grant them more time.
The Tehsil Nazim had fixed January 31 as the last date for shifting of cattle-pens.
While issuing notice to the assistant advocate-general, Justice Javed Buttar, asked him that the Punjab advocate-general should also be informed of the notice as he himself had appeared on the previous occasions.
The milkmen are struggling to stay in the city since March 2000 when the Rawalpindi Municipal Committee (RMC) launched a campaign for evacuating cattle out of the city limits.
