TOBA TEK SINGH: The Jhang Kotwali police registered on Monday a fraud case against a retailer of a bank for extorting Rs1,000 each from those visiting the shop to get their Rs12,000 financial assistance grant of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

Complainant BISP Jhang district deputy director Zaheer Abbas said in his FIR registered under sections 419 and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code that accused Muhammad Yaseen who owned his retail agency office on Bhakkar Road deducted Rs1,000 from the payment of every woman visitor.

The police were conducting raids to arrest the accused.

SHO: The Faisalabad Rail Bazaar police registered a case under section 155C of the Police Order against the former station house officer (SHO) of the same police station, Qalab Abbas Niazi, for submitting a fake record in the court of the district and sessions judge in a petition.

Complainant SHO Naseer Ahmad said in the FIR that he received an order from the court for the registration of a case against the former SHO who was issued a show-cause notice by the court regarding non-implementation of the direction of the court regarding the petition, titled Abdul Ghani versus Faisalabad senior superintendent of police, but instead of implementation on the court order, the accused submitted the wrong record with a fake diary number of the register of the court of the additional district and sessions judge.

The accused is already in jail for attacking and torturing TV channel reporter Munawar Iqbal.

INNOCENT: The Jhang Saddar police have declared innocent TV anchor and vlogger Imran Riaz Khan, who was booked on June 29 on the complaint of a citizen on the charge of speaking against state institutions.

Khalid Mahmood Malik said in his FIR registered under sections 505-1 (C), 505-2, 501 and 109 of the PPC and sections 4, 5, 11, 16, 20 and 22 of the Prevention of Electronic Crime Act, 2016, that the anchor’s act was a major crime and a violation of the Constitution as it had hurt the sentiments of Pakistani people.

Sources said on Monday that in its investigation, the police found him innocent, so the FIR had been discharged.
