SUKKUR: A group of armed men shot dead a married woman, Sana Khoso, 24, in the house of her parents in the Jurya Chowk area of Jacobabad and fled. The killers then proceeded to the nearby Jurya Faqir village and shot dead a youth, Sajjad Khoso.

Police said that the murders seemed to be motivated by ‘honour’. The woman’s father alleged that she was killed at the behest of her estranged husband.

According to local residents, armed men stormed their way into the house in the Jurya Chowk locality within the jurisdiction of the Saddar police station and shot at Sana, wife of Chanesar Khoso, and fled the area.

The woman’s relatives took her to the civil hospital where she succumbed to her wounds.

Her father, Sardar Khan Khoso, said his daughter and Chanesar Khoso had strained relations and she had returned to her parents’ house some time ago. He alleged that Chanesar’s uncle, Bahram Khan Khoso, was suspicious of her loyalty with her husband and on Sunday he along with his associates shot her dead.

In the meantime, the alleged killers proceeded to the nearby Jurya Faqir village, falling within the jurisdiction of the Mauladad police station, in search of a youth, Sajjad Khoso, and shot him dead. They fled the village firing into the air.

The youth’s body was taken to the civil hospital for a post-mortem examination and then handed over to the heirs.

The police have started an investigation into the two murders. Speaking to the media, they said it was apparently a case of honour killing.

No FIR was registered and no one was arrested till late in the evening.
