We’re going back to old school today with this easy craft — a quill pen. Yes, in ancient times, people used to write with quills by dipping them in some sort of dye. But you don’t have to dip the quill in ink today! This quill is made with paper and we are using the real ballpoint cartridge.

Things you need:

  1. Coloured pieces of paper (I am using blue and pink)
  2. A ballpoint
  3. Scissors
  4. Glue stick
  5. Pencil
  6. Ruler

  1. Two-fold two, 6-inch long and 4-inch wide coloured papers and draw a shape of leaf or feather, picture 2.

  2. Cut the feathers out, pictures 3 and 4.

  3. Take out the ballpoint ink cartridge from its plastic case, or as it is called a barrel, picture 5.

  4. Paste glue on the feather and put the ink cartridge in the middle, and paste the other feather on top of it, pictures 6 and 7.

  5. You will need a thin strip of either the same colour paper or you can use different or even glittered one as I have used, to cover the cartridge which is half way out from the feathers, picture 8.

  6. Cover or roll the strip around the cartridge until you reach the tip, picture 9.

  7. Now make diagonal slits on both sides of the feather, pictures 10 and 11.

  8. To make a bow: two-fold 1-inch long, 1cm wide piece of paper and cut in leaf shape, picture 12.

  9. Open and turn the loops inward, it will form the shape of a bow, see picture 13.

  10. Paste a bead on top of it and cut small fork tails (according to the size of the bow) and paste them behind the bow, picture 14.

  11. Paste the bow where the feather starts on the ink cartridge, the quill pen is ready to be used.

The good thing is you can use this quill pen as a bookmark too! So, enjoy this two-in-one craft!
