KARACHI, Dec 24: Two axed members of Pakistan women’s cricket team for Asia Cup, Sadia Butt and Khursheed Jabeen have accused Secretary of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Women’s wing Shamsa Hashmi of favouritism and injustice.

“Despite our vast international experience and good fitness we have been dropped from the 14-member Pakistan squad named for Asia Cup,” they said at a news conference at Karachi Press Club on Saturday.

They said they have played international cricket worldwide and figured in the series against Holland and West Indies at home with some outstanding performance and 40 One-day Internationals, World Cup and Test matches.

“We are much better cricketers than some of the players selected by former Test player Imtiaz Ahmed and Shamsa Hashmi. We are ready to prove ourselves in the ground. Our axing is sheer injustice,” they claimed.

Sadia is a medium pace bowler while Khursheed is a left arm spinner.

They said Pakistan Women’s Cricket Control Association (PWCCA) Shaiza Khan group had been running the women’s cricket affairs of the country for the past ten years and were the members of International Women’s Cricket Council.

With the merger of the women body with ICC, PCB now also runs women’s cricket.

They appealed to the PCB chief Shaharyar M. Khan and director cricket operations Saleem Altaf for justice and fair play.—APP
