PESHAWAR: At least two militants were killed in exchange of fire with law enforcement personnel in Mattani area on the southern fringes of the provincial capital on Monday.

A senior official confirmed to Dawn that two militants were killed in the clash while casualties were also feared among law enforcers. However, there was no confirmation.

He said the clash took place during a raid.

The official said security forces were carrying out search in the area for the militants after the firing stopped.

Meanwhile, the city police and counter terrorism department personnel remained tight-lipped about the incident.
