KOHAT: Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Shamim Afridi has accused former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan of inciting students of universities against his political rivals and state institutions, and demanded a ban on his entry to educational institutions for ‘saving the future of students’.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor, who is the chancellor of universities, to enable students to only concentrate on their studies.

He alleged that Imran Khan was crossing all limits for personal interests.

Mr Afridi said Imran Khan’s party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had failed to even provide wheat flour to people.

MAN ARRESTED: The Doaba police of Hangu district arrested a man for killing his daughter over a family dispute two weeks ago during a raid at his hideout on Sunday.

Noor Habib had killed his daughter, 21, in Karbogha Sharif area. The victim’s mother had filed an FIR against her husband, stating that he came to house, brawled with his daughter, then pulled a pistol and fired three shots at her, killing her instantly.

A statement issued here said district police officer Asif Bahdar had directed DSP Thall Abid Khan and SHO Doaba Fayyaz Khan to ensure early arrest of the murderer.

A team led by DSP Abid Khan surrounded the suspect’s hideout and asked him to surrender, which he did without putting any resistance.

Meanwhile, the Thall police arrested three proclaimed offenders wanted in murder cases and five drug peddlers during an operation. The police also seized two kilogrammes of hashish, two Kalashnikovs, five pistols and hundreds of cartridges from them.

JIRGA: The elders, civil society activists and clerics during a jirga held in Togh Bala area here on Sunday announced social boycott of the organisers of music programmes at wedding parties at night, which they said, caused nuisance to people, especially patients.

A participant of the jirga, Inaam Khan, said it was also decided to help the police arrest the drug peddlers because the menace was destroying the future of youth.

He said the jirga also decided to launch a campaign to purge the area of illegal weapons.
