LAKKI MARWAT: The district administration has decided to engage patwaris (revenue officials) for monitoring distribution of subsidised flour so as to ensure provision of the commodity to deserving people in the district.

The decision was taken in a meeting held here at the district headquarters complex, Tajazai, on Friday with deputy commissioner Fazal Akbar in the chair.

Additional deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners and district food controller Aman Khan attended the meeting.

The deputy commissioner told the meeting that his administration would ensure presence of the concerned patwaris at the distribution points to monitor the flour distribution.

He said that flour would be distributed on the village/neighbourhood council basis. He said that besides preparing lists of the people the patwaris along with village council secretaries would issue tokens to them to ensure transparency in the distribution.

SEWAGE TROUBLES PEOPLE: A small unpaved portion of old kutcheri road in Lakki city has virtually turned into a pool of stagnant water and sewage, causing inconvenience to the residents especially students.

The students use the urban artery to go to the girl’s degree college and the university campus. The road links the city with the Indus Highway through Manjiwala road.

Passing along the bank of Gambila River, the unpaved portion of the urban artery near Bilal Town and Tableeghi Markaz was inundated with sewage due to negligence of the tehsil municipal administration.

“The sewage flows on the road creating problems for the residents,” said a citizen.

The residents urged the authorities to blacktop this section of the road and remove stagnant water from it.
