KARACHI: A young man, who was shot at and wounded by robbers in North Karachi on Thursday, died during treatment at a hospital on Friday, police said.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said Abdul Shakoor, 36, suffered bullet wounds as armed muggers shot him over resistance near Do Minute Chowrangi in North Karachi on Thursday night.

He was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he died during treatment on Friday.

In Ibrahim Hyderi, a young man was shot at and wounded by armed robbers on Friday.

Police said that Pritam Dam, 40, was wounded when he resisted a robbery bid. He was taken to the JPMC where doctors said his condition was stable.

Mob tries to lynch two ‘muggers’

Enraged people on Friday tried to lynch two suspected robbers near Nagan Chowrangi.

Sir Syed SHO Shahid Taj said three robbers tried to loot passengers travelling in a rickshaw. The passengers put up resistance and caught two of them while their third accomplice fled.

In the meantime, area people also gathered there and severely beat the suspects, identified as Ali, 20, and Adnan, 18. However, police reached the scene and saved the suspects from the wrath of the mob.

They were initially shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) from where they were moved to the JPMC. The officer said the condition of one injured was critical.

The police recovered two TT pistols, two mobile phones and a motorcycle from their custody.
