GILGIT: Famed climber Sajid Ali Sadpara summited the world’s eighth highest peak, Mount Manaslu (8,163m) in Nepal, without supplementary oxygen on Monday afternoon, the expedition’s organisers said.

Mr Sadpara had started the mission with foreign climbers on September 6. He reached the summit as a part of “Mt Manaslu Expedition, 2022” organised by Seven Summit Treks, a Nepalese adventure company.

A tweet posted on Mr Sadpara’s official account said: “Alhamdulliah, Sajid has summited Mt Manaslu 8,163m world’s 8th highest mountain without oxygen this afternoon and is first Pakistani to climb to the True Summit. Congratulations Pakistan.”

Mr Sadpara, the son of late Muhammad Ali Sadpara, has already summited K2 (8,611m), Gasherbrum-II (8,035m) and Gasherbrum-II (8,035m) this year.
