KARACHI: A fire broke out in a multi-storey building off I.I. Chundrigar Road on Monday, which caused damages to property, but no injury to human life was reported, police and fire officials said.

They said that the blaze erupted in Techno City Mall located on Hasrat Mohani Road in New Chali. It was controlled by around half a dozen fire engines after hectic efforts lasting for several hours.

The building was evacuated from the people.

Mithadar SHO Malik Adil Khan said that the fire took place on the sixth floor of the building.

He said ‘computer hardware’ was damaged in the fire, but the exact estimation of financial losses could not be made.

Quoting the initial report of firemen, the police said an electrict short-circuit was the likely cause of the fire.

Robbers shoot two over resistance

A teenager was shot at and wounded by robbers over resistance on Northern Bypass on early Monday morning.

Medina Colony SHO Ayaz Husain Jamali said that Naveed Mohammed, 18, was repairing a truck, which developed some fault on the bypass in Baldia No 4 when armed robbers tried to rob him. As he put up resistance, the suspects opened fire on him and fled without any loot. He suffered bullet injuries and was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.

In another incident, a 50-year-old man was shot at and injured by robbers in the outskirts of the city.

Memon Goth police said that Punhal Qasim was hurt during robbery resistance on Link Road. He was shifted to Bahria Town hospital.
