HYDERABAD, Jan 29: A large number of activists of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz and Shaheed Bhutto group staged a joint token hunger strike outside the press club here on Tuesday.

They were protesting against the alleged inhuman atrocities unleashed by the central jail administration against the prisoners.

They demanded that the jail superintendent, Malik Altaf Awan, and deputy superintendent, Eijaz Haider, should be removed, failing which the protest movement would be extended to the whole of Sindh.

They announced that the nationalist parties would stage a protest demonstration outside the central jail on Jan 31.

EDUCATION: The Pakhtoon Students Federation, Government College Kali Mori, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday against the proposed privatization of educational institutions.

Speaking to the rally, Syed Liaquat Shah said that due to the increase in fee the poor students would be deprived of their right to education.

He appealed to the Sindh governor, education minister, and education secretary to review their policies about the privatization of educational institutions in the larger interest of the student community and education.
