LAHORE, Dec 22: The Civil Aviation Authority has installed an instrument landing system (Cat-II) at the Allama Iqbal airport for safe take-off and landing of planes during fog. A CAA spokesman says that during fog visibility reduces to less than 100m which is below the safety criteria laid down for the aircraft operation.

He says the Cat-II provides a visibility up to 350m which will help pilots to cope with fog. Numerous domestic and international flights have been affected owing to fog for the last two days. He says the fog spell in Punjab will persist for next two to three weeks.

PIA: The PIA authorities have advised passengers to check their flight timings on phone no: 111-786-786 and 042-9034999 before leaving for the airport.
