Hasina terms Khaleda traitor

Published December 23, 2005

DHAKA, Dec 22: Hitting back at Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, the Awami League chief and leader of the opposition in parliament, Sheikh Hasina, on Thursday warned that she would file a treason case against her on charge of patronising and protecting anti-state forces.

Addressing a rally in Rajshahi, Hasina branded Khaleda a traitor, accusing her of awarding ministerial posts to those who do not accept the country’s sovereignty.

“You are the traitor because you take care of those who burn our national flag and don’t believe in independent Bangladesh,” said Hasina, referring to Khaleda’s threat on Wednesday at Paltan Maidan.

Khaleda had warned Hasina that she would face sedition charges for her provocative speeches and for creating anarchy in the country.
