RAWALPINDI: A 20-member team of doctors and paramedics led by Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Umer left for Umerkot (Sindh) to provide treatment to flood affected people.

The RMU collected funds from staff and students and besides food and edibles as well as drinking water they purchased life saving medicines worth Rs600,000 for the flood affected people.

Talking to Dawn, Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Umer said that the RMU team would provide medical care to the affected people.

He said the team had established camp and also helped the government run hospitals in the affected areas to provide better care.

He said that diarrhea, skin problems, malaria and other ailments spread in the area due to water accumulation.

He said the team brought clean drinking water for the flood hit areas.

He said the flood affected areas direly need food and water which should be supplied in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority and other departments.

He said the team had collected details of the patients and the people’s requirements in the flood hit areas. He said the RMU students and doctors were willing to help the flood affected people.

He said last week, the team of doctors of RMU visited Rajanpur and Nowshera and planned to visit other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

He said that NDMA had been informed about the details and requirements of the affected areas.
