RAWALPINDI: A man allegedly shot dead two of his elderly cousins before committing suicide in Kallar Syedan, while another woman was murdered by her husband in Dhamial area.

A police report said that the suspect, 63, had been residing in the neighbourhood of his two cousins Shahnaz Akhtar, 63 and Zeenat Bibi, 75 in Kallar Syedan.

Mohammad Faizan, son-in-law of one of the deceased told police that his grandmothers were sleeping on their beds in their home when the suspect carrying a knife and a rifle, entered inside and shot on Zeenat Bibi and then he targeted Shahnaz Akhtar.

He said as Shahnaz attempted to save Zeenat, the suspect stabbed her. When she tried to run away, he shot her too. The complainant said that the suspect escaped from the scene after killing his two cousins.

He said afterwards, the suspect went back home and shot himself. Police and the complainant said that the motive behind the double murder was a family dispute.

Furthermore, Iqra Bibi, 25, was allegedly shot dead by her husband on Wednesday in a Dhamial neighbourhood, police said.

A police spokesman said that Iqra was murdered over a domestic dispute. The suspect has been arrested an d a case has been registered against him.

On the other hand, the city police officer (CPO) has sought a report from the SP (Saddar Division) on the double murder of two women and suicide in Kallar Syedan.
