LAHORE, Dec 20: Police on Tuesday launched investigation into the murder of corporate lawyer Saleem Sehgal who was shot dead outside his house in Faisal Town on Monday night.

SP Intisar Husain Jafri said evidence gathered from the scene of the crime was being evaluated to find some clues.

About the nature of the crime, he said it could be anything. “It could be a targeted murder. It could be the outcome of a failed car snatching bid,” the SP told Dawn.

The officer expected an early breakthrough with two teams working on the case round the clock.

Barrister Saleem Sehgal, 50, was about to reach his house from his office when his car was intercepted by another car. Men on board the other car reportedly opened fire on the lawyer, who suffered five or six bullets and died on way to a nearby hospital.

Police said Mr Sehgal had been representing various high profile clients, including Zardari family. He had also been a candidate for the Punjab advocate general office.
