BAJAUR: Women members of the Khar tehsil council on Monday complained that the authorities had yet to fix their monthly salaries and allot them separate offices to carry out their daily tasks.

Speaking at a meeting held here, they also complained against the district administration and the local government department for ignoring them in approval and provision of development funds.

They said the provincial government had approved several incentives for the male representatives of local bodies, including monthly salaries, share in development funds and separate offices a few weeks ago, but such facilities were not extended to women councillors.

The participants also flayed the district administration and the local government department for not inviting them to meetings held to seek inputs for different uplift schemes.

They decided to boycott all official meetings and their upcoming training workshops if their demands weren’t met within a week.

PROTEST: Residents of Zoorbandar area of Khar tehsil on Monday blocked the Bajaur-Peshawar Road to protest police failure to arrest the people involved in an attack on a house on Sunday night, in which one person was injured.

The demonstrators alleged that armed men entered the house of Saidullah on Sunday night and started firing, injuring him.

Criticising the officials of local police station for not acting against the attackers, the protesters vowed to continue agitating till arrest of the culprits.

They asked the district administration to provide justice to the family by arresting the attackers immediately.
