PESHAWAR, Dec 18: Chairman Frontier Customs Agents Group Ziaul Haq Sarhadi has stressed the need for holding seminars to apprise industrialists, importers, exporters and traders electronic filing of returns, introduced by the sales tax department. In a press release issued here on Sunday, he welcomed the holding of a seminar jointly by collectorate of Sales Tax and Federal Excise and Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on the topic.

He said similar seminars should be held in other cities of NWFP so that the businessmen could have awareness about the new system.

Mr Sarhadi, who is also executive member of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, demanded extension in deadline for enforcement of a new system ‘National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT)’ and reduction in its fee from Rs5000.

He appreciated measures taken by the chairman Central Board of Revenue in customs, sales tax and income tax departments.

He said the reforms introduced in these departments will have very positive impact on economy.—APP
