GUJRANWALA, Dec 18: Councillors have criticized the Wazirabad town nazim and the tehsil municipal administration for rendering a large number of vendors and small shopkeepers jobless during an anti-encroachment drive. The elected representatives demanded withdrawal of cases against them and said that they should be provided with some alternative place to continue their business.
Speaking at a news conference here on Sunday, UC-25 Nazim Muhammad Hafeez Khilji and other councillors said ruling party Town Nazim ex-MPA Chaudhry Nawazish Ali Cheema earlier had removed all public welfare water supply spouts from Ghakkhar Town and now launched operation against encroachments in Wazirabad.
They said small shopkeepers and vendors should be allotted some other place on priority basis to continue their business.
KIDNAPPED: A brick kiln worker and his son were kidnapped by some armed men in Aroop Town on Sunday.
Reports said Muhammad Hanif and his son Altaf Husain were present at their house when Faqir Husain and his accomplices called them out and allegedly kidnapped them.
Aroop police have registered a case against the accused and are investigating.
