SUKKUR, Dec 17: Federal Minister for Population Welfare Chaudhry Shahbaz Hussain has said the government is reactivating family welfare and resource centres in order to control population growth in the country, says an official handout issued here on Saturday.

He was talking at a meeting with the district nazim and taluka nazims of the Sukkur district.

He asked them to supplement government efforts for socio-economic development of the country.

He said the main cause of birth rate was due to weak social security system in the country.

He said the social security system required radical changes through social mobilization and creating awareness among masses and educating them about seriousness of the issue.

He said that Islamic edicts had been issued by the Al-Azhar University and the Qom University regarding birth control system.

BEDIL’S URS: District Nazim Nasir Hussain Shah inaugurated the 137th Urs of Fakir Qadir Bux Bedil by laying Chadar on his shrine in Rohri on Saturday.

The nazim also attended Mehfil-i-Sama where Fakirs presented Kalam of the Sufi poet in a chorus manner.

The nazim said Sufi saints had given us a lesson of peace, love, tolerance and brotherhood.

He announced publication of three rare books of Bedil by the district government and a grant of Rs500,000 for compilation of remaining work on the Bedil auditorium.

The secretary of the Bedil Yadgar Committee, Akhtar Dargahi, presented salient features of activities of previous years Urs celebrations of Fakir Qadir Bux Bedil.
