KARACHI, Dec 17: Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly Nisar Khuhro on Saturday accused Chief Minister Arbab Rahim of bartering away the rights of Sindh as, he claimed, was evident from certain remarks by Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.

According to a statement, Mr Khuhro said that the PPP had already pointed out that Dr Arbab had been deceiving the people of Sindh as he, as stated by Shaikh Rashid, was saying one thing before Gen Musharraf and another before the Sindh Assembly.

Mr Khuhro claimed that Dr Arbab had tendered apologies to Gen Musharraf over his statement in the Sindh Assembly many times in the past two days. “Now Sheikh Rashid’s warning to the chief minister not to issue ‘irresponsible’ statements has unveiled everything. The people want to know whether Dr Arbab is made to resign or is sent home with single stroke of pen, but one thing is clear that it will make no impact on the opposition of Kalabagh Dam and the movement against the controversial project.”

The PPP leader said that Gen Musharraf or his kitchen cabinet members might run a campaign to drum up support for the Kalabagh Dam, but they must know that such a campaign would generate serious reaction in all provinces, especially the smaller ones.
