BAHAWALPUR: About 60 persons were killed and 150 injured when the Karachi-bound Tezrao rammed into a standing goods train at Liaquatpur Railway Station, 68 miles from here at 5 a.m. today [Aug 6], according to assistant commissioner of Liaquatpur. … The driver of the Tezrao applied the emergency brakes but it was too late and the train rammed into the rear of the goods train. On seeing sure death, the driver and the fireman jumped out of the train and were saved. Sources at the Railway headquarters in Lahore said relief trains were immediately rushed to the spot.
