KARACHI, Dec 15: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s coordination committee on Thursday accused the Pakistan People’s Party of resorting to hypocrisy on the question of the Kalabagh dam, pointing out that the party’s Sindh chapter was opposing the dam project while its Punjab chapter was supporting the same.

According to the committee, PPP Secretary General Jehangir Badar, who hails from Punjab, had in a news conference criticized his party’s Sindh chapter on Kalabagh issue, and had allegedly stated that Sindh chapter’s policy on the issue neither had the sanction of the party’s central executive nor of the PPP chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto.

The MQM committee also claimed that the PPP Punjab chief Qasim Zia had also supported the Kalabagh dam a few days earlier, adding that the PPP chairperson should explain the support announced by the party’s secretary general.
