Oil prices mixed

Published December 16, 2005

LONDON, Dec 15: World oil prices were mixed on Thursday amid rising crude stocks in the United States and forecasts of cold weather across the country’s fuel-hungry northeastern region, dealers said. New York’s main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in January, slipped by 25 cents to $60.60 per barrel in electronic trading.

In London, the price of Brent North Sea crude for January delivery rose by 25 cents to $59.85 per barrel, owing partly to its expiry later Thursday.

Crude futures had fallen in earlier trading on Thursday as expectations of more cold weather in the US northeast were overshadowed by plentiful supplies, analysts at the Sucden brokerage firm said.—AFP
