Irsa meeting on barrage closure today

ISLAMABAD, Dec 14: An inter-provincial meeting of the Indus River System Authority to finalize strategy to provide water to Sindh and Balochistan from Punjanad head-works is being held on Thursday (Dec 15).

The arrangement has been necessitated by the closure of the Taunsa Barrage from today for 22 weeks for repair and restoration purpose. Sindh has opposed the decision of the barrage closure, which has been taken on the request of Punjab.

The Irsa chairman will preside over the meeting and besides the members of the authority, the secretaries of irrigation department of the four provinces, Tarbela Dam general manager and Wapda member (water) will attend it.
