HYDERABAD, Jan 28: The members of families who were affected during the ethnic riots of 1989-90 under the banner of Sindhi Qaumi Sath staged a token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad Press Club here on Monday.

They were demanding the rehabilitation of the affected families in Sehrish Nagar, Qasimabad.

Talking to newsman, Khamiso Chandio urged the Zila Nazim, Dr Rafiquzzaman, to take necessary steps for the rehabilitation of the affected families.

He said these families have the first right over the vacant land near Sehrish Nagar. He said that while the outsiders were being rehabilitated in Sindh the indigenous population was not being provided living space.

He demanded that the government should pay serious attention to the displaced families who had been forced to abandon their ancestral homes due to terrorist activities.—Bureau
