SWABI: A police head constable was martyred when two unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on him as he was on way to his office at the district headquarters circle here early on Thursday morning, said SP investigations Fayyaz Khan while talking to mediapersons.

The incident occurred at Kaddi Lara in Dagai village of Razaar tehsil. The deceased,Bakht Munir, belonged to the Yar Hussain village and according to his colleagues he was going to his office on a motorcycle.

“The assailants opened fire on Bakht Munir near Kaddi Lara and he was killed on the spot in the jurisdiction of the Kalu Khan police station,” said SP Fayaz. His body was shifted to the tehsil headquartershospital for autopsy.

The martyred police official left behind a widow, three sons and two daughters to mourn his death.

Meanwhile, the martyred policeman was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Yar Hussain village. His funeral was attended by police officials, leaders of various political parties and local people.
