LAHORE, Dec 10: Former president Muhammad Rafiq Tarar has urged the opposition parties to launch a movement against the rulers, alleging they (rulers) have rendered the country ‘bankrupt’. He said in case the opposition parties launch such a movement, he, despite his old age, would take part in it.
Mr Tarar was speaking a seminar on Saturday held at the Lahore Press Club in connection with completion of the Sharifs’ five years in exile.
The speakers included Zaeem Qadri, Pervaiz Malik, Khwaja Saad Rafiq, Supreme Court Bar head Justice Malik Muhammad Qayyum (retired), Mujtaba Shujaa, Mehr Ishtiaq and others.
The former president said there was no agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia governments on the banishment of the Sharifs. Had there been any, he said, it must carry his signature as head of the state.
