Fata people urged to pay power bills

Published December 11, 2005

PESHAWAR, Dec 10: The Tribal Areas Electricity Supply Company (Tesco) has asked power consumers in Fata to avoid use of electric heaters, ovens, geysers and other high consumptive appliances during current winter season.

The consumers have also been asked to install meters and pay electricity bills to get rid of low voltage and loadshedding.

According to a press release, major cause of loadshedding in Fata is lavish use of electricity. Power transformers installed at grid stations feeding Fata are overloaded and putting further load on them can cause major power failures.

The press release said that 92 per cent of the power consumption in Fata was made by domestic consumers who did not pay a penny for the electricity they consume.—Correspondent
