LOWER DIR: Government employees from different departments on Sunday rejected the policy of making fresh appointments on ad hoc basis and abolition of pension and gratuity.
The decision was taken at a meeting of leaders of various organisations of government employees from Malakand division held in Chakdara. Provincial chairman of All Government Employees’ Grand Alliance (AGEGA) Syed Mohammad Shah was in the chair.
AGEGA central president Haider Ali Khan Astanizai, Syed Mohammad Shah, provincial president of school officers’ association Samiullah Khalil, Tanzeem-i-Asateza former president Sahibzada Sadiq Jan and others addressed the meeting.
The participants worked out a strategy to hold a protest demonstration in Islamabad on June 9 to be attended by government employees from across Malakand division.
The speakers demanded of the government to raise their salaries according to prevailing inflation. They also demanded regularisation of all contract employees.
They vowed not to accept the ad hoc policy for fresh recruitments and withdrawal of pension and gratuity. They said the government should cut the perks and privileges of its ministers and bureaucrats instead.
CONVENTION: A convention of the Sadaat Samaji Tehreek (SST), a welfare body of Sadaat tribe, was held on Sunday with its district president Syed Mustaqim Jan in the chair.
SST provincial leaders Syed Mufti Zainul Abideen, Syed Abid Shah, Maulana Syed Yousuf Shah, Syed Muqam Bacha, Bajaur chapter president Syed Fazal Akber Bacha, Syed Muzammil Shah, Swat district president Syed Bahadar, Syed Bakhtawar Said, Abdul Haq and representatives from Malakand division were in attendance.
They decided that SST leaders would visit all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to reorganise the movement by uniting the members of the tribe. They urged the well-to-do members of the tribe to help the poor.
PROTEST: Pakistan Peoples Party workers on Sunday staged a rally in Odigram against former prime minister Imran Khan for making threats against state institutions at public gatherings.
Led by former MPA Mohammad Zamin, the workers chanted slogans against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman. They condemned Imran Khan for ‘dividing’ the nation. The speakers termed the former premier a security risk for the country.
