KARACHI: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a man for allegedly holding his young daughter in captivity and subjecting her to a sexual assault.

The Korangi police said that acting on a tip-off they carried out a raid and arrested her father.

The girl in her statement said that her father along with his two friends had subjected her to a sexual assault.

Additional police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said the police brought the girl to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a medical examination. She said the girl said that she was tied with chains, but there were no marks of violence.

Area SHO Zahid Lodhi said the girl was 20 years old. The police registered a case on her complaint against her father and two other men under Sections 376 (punishment for rape), 347 (wrongful confinement to extort property or constrain to illegal act) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to the FIR, the girl, a factory worker, alleged that her father brought a man to their home around five-six months ago who raped her. She said her father also subjected her to a sexual assault on multiple occasions. She said on June 2, her maternal aunt and two male cousins visited their home and saw her in chains. She narrated her ordeal and her mother and aunty took her to the Korangi police station and got an FIR registered against her father and two others.
