BAHAWALPUR: District Police Officer Aibadat Nisar on Monday suspended from service Saddar Station House Officer Mohsin Sardar for misbehaving with a complainant after their talk went viral on social media.

DPO’s PRO Muhammad Iqbal told Dawn that Muhammad Yousaf had complained to the SHO on his cell phone that some robbers came to his shop and deprived him of his money. The SHO suspected the complainant about his claim.

The conversation and arguments from both sides went viral on social media which prompted the DPO to take immediate action saying that the talk was unbecoming of a police official who was bound to perform his duty to help the needy.

The DPO suspended the SHO from service and sought explanation from him.

GENERATORS: Lodhran Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi has directed the education department to provide electricity through power generators in the examination centres of the district.

According to a handout, the DC on Monday paid surprise inspection of centres at government girls high school and government boys higher secondary school, Lodhran, regarding class-IX annual examination. The DC found that candidates were experiencing a great deal of inconvenience due to power loadshedding.

The DC directed district education Authority CEO Mian Abdul Razaq to provide all basic facilities like electricity through power generators and drinking water as well.

ACCIDENT: Two people were killed and three others suffered serious injuries in two road accidents in Bahawalpur and Lodhran districts on Monday.

According to Rescue 1122, Waris (22) was killed and his two companions were injured in bus-bike collision at Adda Chowki near Khairpur Tamewali. The injured were shifted to THQ hospital Khairpur Tamewali.

In another incident near Ameer station in Lodhran, a car driver was killed when his vehicle overturned due to tyre burst.
