NTC imposes dumping duties on 7 states

ISLAMABAD, Dec 9: The National Tariff Commission (NTC) has imposed six definitive anti-dumping duties on import from seven countries during the period February 26, 2002 to November 21, 2005.

This was stated by Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan in a written reply to a question of Mrs Shakeela Khanam Rashid in the National Assembly here on Friday.

The minister informed the House that the first anti-dumping duty was imposed on import of tinplate by Mac Steel, South Africa, at the rate of 27.33 per cent on Nov 26, 2002.

The second anti-dumping duty was imposed on Sorbitol, (70 per cent Solution), at the rate of 96.50 pre cent on a French exporter and 22.26 per cent on an Indonesian exporter on Nov 19, 2003.

Mr Khan said that anti-dumping duty of 13.77 per cent was imposed on glacial acetic acid on June 18, 2004 on export of Chang Chun Petrochemical, Taiwan. Anti-dumping duty at the rate of 12.71 per cent was imposed on August 12, 2004 on export of Acrylic Tow from Uzbekistan.

The NTC imposed anti-dumping duties at the rate of 40.18 per cent and 31.06 per cent on Korean and Iranian export of PVC Resin, respectively, on Feb 24, 2005. The anti dumping duties imposed on export of UFMC on export of Chinese exporters—Bluestar, at the rate of 10.61 per cent; Sinochem, at 3.43 per cent, Yixing at 11.58 per cent; and for all other exporters at 7.80 per cent. The duty was effective from October 21, 2005.
