KOHAT: The KDA town and Junglekhel police have compiled data of thefts during the public gathering of former prime minister Imran Khan held at the sports complex here on May 17, where cash, vehicles, mobile phones and motorcycles worth millions of rupees were stolen by gangs of pickpockets and thieves. Hundreds of victims had filed cases of theft in the police stations, officials said.

The data made available to Dawn on Saturday said the participants were deprived of 2,700 mobile phones, 15,125 motorcycles, 35 ATM cards, two pick-up vans, a car and 100 CNICs. The police officials said they were investigating the cases.

KILLED FOR HONOUR: A young man was killed inside a rickshaw on Kohat-Peshawar Bypass for honour on Friday.

The Junglekhel police said a suspect from Nasratkhel area shot dead a man hailing from Naway Kallay area for honour.

They said a case had been registered against the suspected killer on the complaint of the victim’s father.

EXAM DATE ANNOUNCED: The Allama Iqbal Open University has announced that it will hold the papers scheduled for May 25 from June 23.

According to a statement issued on Friday, the varsity’s director Kohat division said the papers of BA (associate degree), BS and B.Ed, which were to be held on May 25 but cancelled due the PTI long march, would now be held on June 23.

SPORTS FESTIVAL: A three-day sports, cultural and tourism festival started at the Olas Park in the Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision on Saturday.

The Kohat regional sports department with the cooperation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism and Cultural Authority has organised the event.

A statement issued on Friday said different events, including horse race, hiking, hide-and-seek; stalls of weapons, local dishes and many other activities are part of the festival.

Meanwhile, the National Database and Registration Authority has started the evening shift at its Masood Plaza office from 3pm to 10pm to remove grievances of public regarding delays in issuance of documents.

Nadra officials said additional staff and equipment had been provided to the office.

VOTERS LISTS DISPLAYED: The local election commission office has established display centres in Lachi tehsil to facilitate people in checking if they are registered as voters and make necessary corrections, if any. The display centres will function till June 19.

A statement issued the other day said main centres had been established at government primary school No-1, Lachi Payan, and government primary school No-1, Lachi Bala.
