PESHAWAR: The two-day International Seerat Conference concluded here at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Peshawar.

The theme of the conference was “Training of Young Generation for Societal Change: Guidance from Seerat”.

According to a statement issued here, a total of 52 papers were presented in Urdu, English and Arabic in which the experts from Turkey, Malaysia, UK and other countries presented their research papers.

All the papers shed light on how the young generation these days with so many diverse issues of life could seek guidance from the life of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The presenters stressed that the teachings of the Holy Prophet should be taught at all levels of education so that the youth could be sensitised regarding seeking guidance from the Seeratun Nabi.

At the inaugural session, Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi, former Swabi Women University VC, stated that with the advancement in technology the children were exposed to social media which was broadly used these days for promotion of negative things, poisoning the mindset of the youth in an unfelt manner.

SBBWU vice-chancellor Prof Dr Naseem Akhtar in her address stated that in the era of social media where the youth were highly distracted the need to inculcate the Islamic teachings was essential.

She said that all the activities of life were important for the youth, but there was a need to maintain a balance between the worldly and Islamic education and values.
