Lawmakers come to blows in NA

ISLAMABAD, Dec 8: Krishan Bheel, a minority MNA of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) on Thursday came to blows with Qari Gul Rahman, a Muttahida Majlis Amal (MMA) lawmaker from Karachi, after exchaning unpleasant words soon after the house was adjourned until Friday. The house business advisory committee with NA speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain in the chair regretted the incident and hoped the matter would be resolved amicably.

The members involved could have been suspended had the incident occurred during the house proceedings.

Mr Bheel reportedly punched Mr Rehman when the latter reacted sharply to his sarcastic remarks during his speech in which he had lauded Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz for approving a Rs90 million gas pipeline for his constituency.

The minority lawmaker was overheard calling Mr Rahman a “sarkari maulvi” when the latter was praising the premier.
