TAXILA: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Thursday recovered thousands of litres of substandard and counterfeit carbonated drinks from a beverage factory in Jameelabad area.

The authority seized bottles of fizzy drinks, produced by famous brands, during the raid. The team also confiscated 18,000 empty bottles, 11 gas cylinders, three filling machines, mixing machines and so on from different places.

PFA officials said that the raid was carried out at an allegedly illegal beverage factory after the authority received a tip off from a vigilance cell. We will not let anyone play with the lives of people and the authority was looking into the product trail by tracking purchases, officials from the authority said, adding records are being looked into in order to trace shopkeepers and distributors.
