DADU, Dec 8: The Dadu town police on Thursday booked the naib nazim and a councillor of UC-III along with their three relatives on charges of injuring the nazim of the council. The UC-III nazim, Ghulam Mustafa Brohi, had arrived at the police station along with nine councillors and complained in writing that Naib Nazim Anwar Mallah, councillor Arib Thaheem and three relatives of naib nazim, Munir, Rabban and Roshan Mallah, had entered his office and demanded Rs500,000 as extortion money.
When he refused to make the payment, they assaulted him and broke the furniture of the office, the nazim said.
Later, a large number of people belonging to the Brohi Welfare Association staged a demonstration and demanded arrest of the accused nominated in the FIR.
On the other hand, Naib Nazim Anwar Mallah said the government should initiate an inquiry against Ghulam Mustafa Brohi for misusing public funds.
ARREST: The Dadu district police arrested five absconders from different places on Thursday. They were identified as Rehman Panhwar, Khan M. Chandio, Niaz Chandio, Barkat Broh and Mukhtiar Mahessar.
