SAHIWAL: Pakpattan City police nominated another UAE-based Pakistani businessman in the murder case of Rana Ahmed Ali, the father of PML-N MPA Mian Naveed Ali, who was shot dead by his former security guard at his residence on the Hota Road on May 7.
The suspect, Atta Bugti, had escaped after the murder.
Sources told Dawn that Chaudhry Sabtain; a resident of Prime Valley, Pakpattan, who had been living in the UAE for the last 12 years, had given money to Atta Bugti, a resident of Sui, Balochistan, for killing Mian Ahmed Ali.
They said Sabtain was running a maize export and was a partner in a real estate business with the deceased.
“A difference emerged between the two partners over about Rs500m,” the sources disclosed.
Atta’s younger brother, Saddam Bugti, is also living in the UAE from where he was in contact with communication him on behalf of Sabtain.
MPA Mian Naveed, a complainant in the case, told Dawn he had filed an application against Sabtain.
Earlier, City police had arrested Hakeem Maqbool, a former business partner, and Liaquat Bugti, a gunman, on charge of facilitating Atta Bugti.
SHO Hashim said both the arrested suspects had confessed to conniving with the suspect.
