KARACHI, Dec 7: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Wednesday discussed Pakistan-India relations and other issues with the Indian High Commissioner here on Wednesday. According to a party press release, the MQM coordination committee hosted a luncheon meeting with Indian High Commissioner Shiv Shankar Mennon at a local hotel.

Mr Mennon attended the luncheon with his wife and discussed matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations.

The Indian diplomat informed the MQM team that the Monabao-Khokhrapar railway link would become operational by January next year. The Indian consulate in Karachi would also start functioning by that time.

He was of the view that meetings between people of Pakistan and India should continue which would help improve relations.

The Indian HC was earlier welcomed by the deputy convenor of the coordination committee Dr Farooq Sattar, in-charge of coordination committee Anwar Alam, candidate for Naib City Nazim Nasreen Jalil, members of parliament Kunwar Khalid Yunus, Nisar Ahmed Panwhar, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Devdas, and Ms Heera Ismail Sohu.
