BAHAWALPUR: A man allegedly raped a minor boy here on Monday at Basti Gharibabad of village 97 in Saddar Lodhran police precincts.

According to police spokesman Imran Umar, complainant Aslam [a motorcycle-rickshaw driver] alleged that his son was on his way to his grandfather’s house when suspect ‘F’ took his shoes and moved towards a maize field.

He said the boy followed the suspect to the field to get his shoes back where ‘F’ allegedly assaulted him. On raising an alarm by the boy, the suspect managed his escape.

Police said the boy was sent to hospital for medical examination.

Police claimed to have arrested the suspect and registered a case against him under section 377 of PPC.
