SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 7: The local Anti-Corruption Establishment on Wednesday instituted a case against the EDO (education) for illegally promoting 160 elementary English teachers on behalf of the DCO after taking Rs1.6 million in bribe.

It is learnt that EDO Yousaf Masih Gull had decided promotion cases without convening district promotion committee meeting, which was to be chaired by the DCO.

The FIR was lodged on the complaint of Human Resources Management district officer Chaudhry Zakaullah Bajwa.

According to the FIR, Yousaf Gull had prepared forged minutes of the DPC meeting for the regularization of teachers on Aug 13 last at the DCO Committee Room. While the DCO had neither fixed the date of the meeting nor approved it.

The EDO did write a letter to the DCO on Aug 10 in respect of the DPC meeting for regularization of English teachers, but no approval was granted.

He said the DCO had categorically denied that he had fixed any date for the meeting.

The complainant alleged that Yousaf Gull had come to his office on Dec 2 and asked him to sign the minutes of the meeting on behalf of the DCO in return for heavy bribe.
