HYDERABAD, Dec 7: A dissident group of the Sindh National Party has decided to launch a protest movement against the Kalabagh dam and greater Thal canal projects from Dec 16.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Wednesday, party convener Anwar Khoso and organizing committee members Agha Shamshad Mughal and Wahid Bux Sangrasi said the party would take out a procession from the Hyder chowk in Gari Khata to the Hyderabad Press Club and stage a rally outside the Karachi Press Club on Dec 25.

They announced similar protest programmes in Badin on Dec 30 and in Qasimabad on the new year night. They said a workers’ convention would be held in Qasimabad on Jan 20 to evolve future strategy.

They welcomed formation of a new alliance to protect rights of Sindh and assured it of unconditional support of their party. They criticized those elements who were opposing the alliance.

RESIGNATION: The secretary for information of the Jeay Sindh Mahaz (Junejo group), Hyder Bhutto, on Wednesday resigned from the basic membership of the party.

In a statement, he said that at a meeting of the central committee of the party held in Karachi on Nov 26 it had been decided by the majority to abandon the programme of Sindhu Desh as well as the party flag. He said it had been argued at the meeting that the slogan of Sindhu Desh given by the founder of the Jeay Sindh movement, the late G. M. Syed, was no longer relevant.
