CHINIOT: Two people were killed and another two injured by their rivals in the village Hersa Sheikh on Sunday.

Suspects, headed by Ahmad Sher Nekukara, opened fire at a car near Hersa Sheikh village, some 15 km from Chiniot, and killed car passenger Shafqat Nekukara and passerby Manzoor Ahmad.

Two other car passengers, Yousaf and Umar Draz, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Chiniot DHQ Hospital. The shooters fled, taking the cover of aerial firing.

The police collected forensic evidence from the spot and the teams headed by City DSP Mazhar Gondal are working to arrest the suspects. It is said the killers and deceased families had an old feud over the property.

PARK: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asim Javed inaugurated the renovated Ahmadpura Park here on Sunday. The contractor had abandoned work on the scheme in 2017 and it was now renovated by the Chiniot Municipal Committee. The park has lush green lawns, swings, benches and brick-lined tracks and other amusement activities.

The DC said that work on all other parks of Chiniot had been started and maintenance of the parks would continue round the clock.

The people of Ahmadpura and Salara Road were suffering due to the non-availability of the recreation park.

He advised the public to own the park and the facilities.
