TAXILA: Imran Khan has lost his mind after losing the premiership and is now constantly changing his “self-contradictory narrative”, Maryam Nawaz said at a rally in Fatehjung on Friday.

The event marked the launch of a public contact campaign by the Pakistan Muslim League-N aimed at countering the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s narrative against the party.

Maryam Nawaz, the PML-N vice president, said neither did the former prime minister do anything for the nation nor did he allow others to do something.

She recalled that until last week Imran Khan had been alleging that a conspiracy to topple his government was hatched in March, but now he had changed his narrative by claiming that the plot stretched back as far as July last year.

Maryam Nawaz referred to Imran Khan as “Tosha Khan” and recalled that he had not spoken as much in defence of his sister Aleema Khan as for Farah Gogi, who “minted billions through corrupt practices”.

“Imran Khan diverted the nation’s attention towards Langar Khanas while selecting for himself priceless objects from Toshakhana and even had the audacity to take away a BMW car worth Rs150 million with him,” the PML-N leader said.

She said the former prime minister was “fearful of the foreign funding case” as he had collected “billions illegally”.

Maryam Nawaz mentioned by name the nephew of former minister Sheikh Rashid, who is facing charges in the Masjid-i-Nabwi incident, claiming Sheikh Rashid Rafiq had refused to hand over to police his cell phone on which he uploaded his video message because the “traces of the conspiracy lead to Bani Gala”.

She alleged that the PTI’s planned long march was in fact a “desperate attempt to save Farah Gogi”.

Referring to the PTI chief’s gripe about the no-confidence motion that dislodged his government, Maryam Nawaz recalled he was goading the opposition to “bring a no-trust move against me”, but

was “crying himself hoarse” now that it had been done.

She claimed that prices of essential items like flour and sugar had come down drastically after Shehbaz Sharif came to power last month.

A large number of party supporters from Rawalpindi, Attock, Taxila, Hassanabdal and adjourning areas participated in the public meeting.
