HYDERABAD, Dec 5: At least 100 cases of dog bite have been reported to various hospitals of the city in two days. On Sunday night, 24 cases of dig bites were reported at the Civil Hospital Hyderabad and till the filing of this report 44 more cases were added to the list.

This is despite the fact that a campaign against pye-dogs by the newly-elected district administration was launched in the area some time ago.

Around one dozen dog bite victims reached Memon hospital for vaccination and an equal number of them arrived at Bhittai hospital. The victims included SHO Phulelli police station who was bitten by the dog in his jurisdiction.

The Phulelli police shot dead a pye-dog in the area after 25 cases of dog bites were reported in Phulelli area and its surroundings on Sunday.

The victims included children, middle and older aged men, who were residents of Gaoshala, Phulelli, Pareetabad, Memon hospital area and Phulelli.

Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has announced Rs10,000 cash award for police constable, Ghulam Mohammad of Phulelli police station for killing the pye dog which bit 25 persons on Sunday night.
