ISLAMABAD, Dec 4: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has given no guarantee to remain in low profile during his stay in the United Kingdom, sources in the Pakistan Muslim League (N) told Dawn.

They said he would not take active part in politics during the treatment of his younger son, Hussain Nawaz, in London. “However, there are no restrictions,” they asserted.

They said Nawaz Sharif and his family were most likely to get British visas within a week. They said Nawaz Sharif’s visa application was not being processed as a routine matter. They said a British minister, who recently visited Pakistan, had assured PML-N leaders during a meeting that there was no hitch and that as former prime minister he qualified to get visa on fast track.

They, however, said the problem was there because of the family and servants who would accompany him. Their visas were being processed in a routine manner. They pointed out that the processing time in Saudi Arabia was more than it was in many other countries. They said they had been told that the processing time varied from country to country.

Answering a question, they said Nawaz Sharif would take a decision ablut their travel plan be after obtaining the visa. They, however, said he would like to travel as soon as possible in view of the condition of his son. British High Commissioner Mark Lyall Grant has said that Nawaz Sharif and his family will be getting visas in a couple of days.
